In James, we learn to go to the Lord for wisdom in difficult seasons of life, and upon receiving the wisdom, each of us have a choice. We ask in faith. Therefore, we must apply in faith. 

Enjoy God’s Process, Know His Purpose

By God's grace, we have been permitted to experience a variety of trials. When we understand God's purpose in it all, we can learn to remain joyful in the process of it all. 

A Blessing and Restorer

In the life of Obed, Naomi experienced a restoration of joy in her life, and it was through this grand-child that she would see the start of a great blessing to the generations to come. Would we take each moment to appreciate the blessing of children and grandchildren, for in them, the future is changed. 

The Blessing of Gospel Fruit

After having redeemed Naomi and Ruth, Boaz married Ruth. In a prayer for her, the community prays for Ruth's fruitfulness. As believers and churches, we too should be fruitful, and our fruit should never be considered an inconvenience. There is blessing in gospel fruit.

Going the Extra Mile

Boaz began the process of becoming the kinsman redeemer for Naomi and Ruth. In a very sacrificial way, Boaz went above and beyond to redeem them. While Boaz is simply a picture of Christ, Christ went above and beyond to shed His blood for mankind. 

Growth in the Stillness

As Ruth was waiting to figure out how everything would work out, Naomi gives her great advice, "Sit still." In the stillness, each of us could grow in our faith to know it is just like Jesus to meet every need and work it out in His time. 

Fear Not

In response to Ruth, Boaz responds in kind. He eases her heart telling her that he was going to do his part of the kinsman redeemer. Just as Ruth was told to "fear not," we are told to fear not. The Lord is our helper, so we can rest in Him friends.

Constructing Character

Ruth found herself at the feet of Boaz after following the instructions of her mother-in-law. Once Boaz was awakened, he finds Ruth in full submission displaying a character that had been under construction for years. 

Simple Instructions, Simple Obedience

Naomi gave clear instructions for Ruth to help her possibly begin to secure a future. In clear gospel pictures, this story lays out Ruth going to Boaz presenting herself just as we should before Jesus. Simple instructions allow for simple obedience. 

Hope for the Hurting

Ruth was experienced great blessing, and the focus of the story returns back onto Naomi. It is evident that hope had been restored in the life of Naomi as she sees the goodness of God. Regardless of where we are and what we are going through, may we realize there is hope available, for we serve the God of hope.
